From thirty years ago KMSP-TV’s Prime Time News, a combination of KMSP’s local news product and the former Independent News Network (INN) a national news service that provided reports for local stations. The state tax code, social funding, and Northwestern Bell telephone rate hikes are some of the stories featured in this report anchored by Jeff Baillon.

Jeff Lonto: Great to see the original Independent Network News intro again. When I slept that music used to seep into my dreams. KMSP’s attempts at continuity between the network and local broadcasts never quite worked, I thought.

Also great to see the classic Rockford Files and Kojak promos, and an Arby’s commercial from the “Yes Sir!” campaign.

W.B.: “INN” originated from WPIX (Channel 11) in New York; its anchors and reporters were the same as worked on their local “Action News.” Ironically, Bill Jorgensen had once worked at WNEW-TV – sister station to WTCN (now KARE) from 1971 to 1983.
