Craig Crossen: Dr. Walt was not only a splendid on-air TV weather broadcaster, but an outstanding on-air teacher: his broadcasts gave me a firm understanding of the dynamics of Minnesota’s complicated summer and winter weather, an understanding that has stood me in good stead for many decades of outdoors work and recreation.
