TC Media Now exclusive interview with longtime KSTP anchor Stan Turner. Award winning journalist, Stan Turner spent over 30 years with Hubbard Broadcasting as a reporter, news director, and anchor. During the 1980s, Mr. Turner was the main weeknight anchor of KSTP’s evening broadcasts, and from 1989 to 1992 was the principal anchor of Hubbard’s “All News Channel”. Watch as Stan Turner discusses Twin Cities media past and present, his time at KSTP, and his thoughts on journalism in the new media world.

KSTP-TV “The World Today” sports segment from April 1972 featuring Tom Ryther along with Ted O’Brien and Barry ZeVan. This team was selected through a national search by Frank Magid in 1970 and went on the air in July 1971. While not an instant hit with viewers, The World Today (and later in 1973 Eyewitness News) set record highs in Twin Cities news ratings.

TC Media Now’s exclusive interview with former KSTP and KARE sportscaster Tom Ryther. A native of St. Louis, Tom came to KSTP in 1971 to head the station’s sports coverage, eventually being part of a KSTP news team earning record setting ratings that have yet to be matched. During this time Tom also hosted the Twin Cities version of Bowling for Dollars, recording over 500 half hour shows. In 1979 Tom joined station WTCN in it’s earliest days as an NBC affiliate. Best remembered today as the sports side of KARE’s news team of Paul Magers, Diana Pierce, and Paul Douglas, Tom has kept a relatively low profile since leaving KARE-TV in 1991. KSTP-TV Eyewitness News from Sunday April 13, 1981. Robb Leer on Sports, Roy Finden with weather, and anchor Steve Sanger (not much information on this individual). Reports from Jason Davis, President Reagan, Butter Nut coffee commercial with Betty White, and a report on the death of boxer Joe Louis. Also at the end of the tape this was found on was a KMSP at the fair clip. Only a few seconds, not sure what the program was it looks to be after 1980.

KSTP-TV Eyewitness news Saturday night September 1982. Marcia Fluer is the solo anchor from this Saturday evening in 1982. The first ten minutes of the news is captured. Also features Robb Leer reporting sports.

You can’t appreciate the cold until you see the meteorologist outside in the cold. In this KSTP-TV newsbreak from the winter of 1986 meteorologist Dennis Feltgen reports on the frigid Minnesota weather from the intersection of interstate 94 and highway 280. Also an appearance from Angela Astore.
