Most of the KSTP 10pm News broadcast from August 31, 1985. Pat Milan, Angela Astore, Karen Filloon, and Robb Leer. Two big events in this broadcast – Live Newstar 5 coverage with Dennis Feltgen on Hurricane Elena. Dennis spent several days covering the storm across the gulf coast. Later Robb Leer debuts his newly born son Robert Murray Leer…

A very little watched news broadcast on a recent affiliate of the also little watched NBC network (at the time). Stan Bohrman anchored the WTCN news for about a year when WTCN gained the NBC affiliation from KSTP. WTCN was trying to heavily promote its NBC affiliation in station branding. If nothing else it is worth to hear the disco news theme song.

Step back 30 years to KSTP, then the number one rated news program in the Twin Cities. Blue Chroma key walls with slides, weather maps that use markers, and a news team all seated at the desk ready for breaking news.
Absent is regular anchor Ron Magers, however “Professional Meteorologist” (as labeled) Dennis Feltgen, Sports Director Bob Bruce, Neal Murray with consumer advice on gum and baby cribs, and fill in Don Ellison bring you all the days news from September 12, 1980.

“This Must Be the Place” appears to have been a late night weekend talk show with WCCO host, weatherman, and anchor Bill Carlson. It looks to be a collage of interviews taken and recorded at separate times and edited together for this half hour installment. I do not have a lot of memory or background of this program. In tonight’s TMBTP features interviews with Annette O’Toole and Dave Durenberger. Also more vintage 1980 commercials, the kind that appear late at night.

WCCO-TV News 10pm Report from Sunday February 24, 1980. Don Shelby and Mike Walcher anchored the weekends together for a brief period of time, included is their promo together that aired prior to the broadcast. Olympics, Iran, 1980 Election are some of the stories featured along with Bill Carlson doing the weather and Hal Scott doing sports. Also of note toward the end is video of Don Shelby’s daughter Delta that was born the day this aired.

A collection of promotions from KSTP-TV that aired in July 1980. Eyewitness News featuring the top events of the time (GOP Convention with Ronald Reagan, storms, The Minnesota Kicks), The Eyewitness News team, Jason Davis, and Twin Cities Today. At the time these promotions aired channel 5 was at the number one news station on the air in Minnesota with Ron Magers, Cyndy Brucato, Dennis Feltgen, and Bob Bruce…
